Muste - Multiplatform Survo Type Editorial Environment for Data Analysis |

Survo is a computing environment developed by professor Seppo Mustonen. Various forms of Survo have existed during the last 50 years. The current flagship version SURVO MM operates in Windows.
Muste project was suggested in February 2009 by Reijo Sund. The main motivation for the project was to implement certain unique or otherwise useful properties of Survo in the form of an open source multiple platform R package. The current aim is to implement the main functionality of Survo in the R environment. This has turned out to be a feasible goal since Seppo Mustonen has kindly provided access to the C source codes of Survo.

Currently the functionality of Survo editor and support for sucros, file operations, postscript plotting as well as matrix interpreter are almost completely implemented. There are also about 50 modules implemented already.
In addition, a few new properties such as the direct running of R commands from Muste has been added. The purpose is, however, to include the main parts of Survo functionality before swithing to development of other properties.
Muste project has been registered to R-Forge development platform: http://r-forge.r-project.org/projects/muste/
Binary packages for testing purposes can be downloaded for Windows (muste_0.4.82.zip) and Mac Snow Leopard or newer (muste_0.4.82.tgz). Mac users, make sure that Tcl/Tk for X11 has been installed. It is available from: http://cran.r-project.org/bin/macosx/tools/.
Please note that Muste package is still in its alpha phase of development and has only limited functionality. Use it on your own risk!
